General Building/Decorating Guidelines
-
You can sell your products and services at the booths. The sale of adult furniture is allowed as long as demo furniture is not rezzed and vendor pictures are not explicit. No adult content may be depicted in pictures or demonstration models. If you wish to check any product please ask GiaBlossom for verification.
-
While using AI creation tools might be inspiring, we ask that you do not sell items at the Expo that are made using AI generated art. We will ask items which contain AI generated art/vendor pictures to be removed from the event.
-
Booths are only available if you have bought a sponsorship. We request that you donate as many items as you can for sale in RFL vendors. Items displayed in RFL vendors donate 100% of their sale price to RFL. You will receive the RFL Vendors in the Final Event Packet during the 1st week of May.
-
All content for the SL Decorators Expo must conform to the moderate rating. All decorations must be PG. No Adult Furniture must be rezzed while decorating for the contest.
-
To lower lag and improve visitors’ experience, Decorators must minimize script usage (i.e.: NO highly scripted items, NO temp-rezzers). The preference for texture dimensions are 512×512, especially in vendor images. The higher the texture resolution, the longer textures take to rez. It should be borne in mind that these high-res textures have a cumulative effect: each 1024×1024 texture uses four times the memory of a 512×512 texture, which affects load times and frame rates for our visitors. Please keep as many Objects to Phantom to reduce Lag.
-
Gardens are given a plot size of 1024sqm. We have a total of 19 Garden plots only this year. Even if you have chosen a garden plot, you may be asked to take a Room plot because of availability. The gardens should look like a garden and not a landscape with rolling hills. A pond is good but not a big waterfall. You must remain within your fence. No Terraforming is allowed. Lands are not subdivided. So, decorators will share a group space to rez. A garden cannot have a privacy screen. One can walk in a garden and look at the other garden over the fence.
-
Room plots are of 16mx16m. 100 prims are given per room. You can not decorate it with Adult furniture. All furniture must be PG. Each room connects to the other. The walls and 2 Doors and window overlooking the path cannot be deleted or changed. However, you can add extra walls within the said room. Please make sure, adding extra walls should not hamper the audience experience in any way. The management may ask you to remove these walls, if they think it will hamper the audience experience. For more info on it please contact GiaBlossom Resident.
-
There is no specific theme to decorate this year. We welcome you to surprise us.
-
Decorating a room or a garden doesn't require sponsorship slots. Participating just to decorate means you agree to the rules and are participating in the mega decorating contest.
-
All Decorators are given a reserved spot to participate in the Remote Events. The details are shared during the month of April.
-
The Team SL'ers for Life kiosks will be placed at the entrance of each garden or room. Highest donation on these kiosks will be announced as winner.
-
Decorators are given the opportunity to raffle their decorative services. You can also donate a product or service to the Prize Pool. This Prize Pool is distributed among the winners of Mega Event and all other Remote Events.
-
If you are participating on behalf of a Team, you can rez your kiosk at the expo. Or we can add your team to our kiosk splitting the donation equally. Only kiosks owned by Team SL'ers for Life will be considered in the final results.
-
You can put your design service prices, social links, website/blog, landmark etc. (if you have one) on a board, given to you full perm before the event. This will be called “SL Decorators Expo - Socials Board”.
-
Landmarks to your spot at the SL Decorators Expo will be sent out in the Final Events Pack during the first week of May.
-
At your designated Landmark, you will find a locked box with your name as a floating text.
Rules regarding Intellectual Property
-
SL Decorators Expo is one of the events of Relay for Life of Second Life. This means that all the rules of RFL and Linden Lab Terms of Service must be followed. Linden Lab has also very clear official Intellectual Property Statement available.
-
For further DMCA and infringement of Intellectual Property Rights, you can read Fantasy Faire rules. It is very elaborate and easy to understand. We are not that major event; however, we do follow the rules of RFL and SL.
-
Should a situation occur, it will each be dealt separately.
-
No refunds will be made.
Credits - The guidance to rules has been partially taken from Fantasy Faire.
FAQs for Decorators
Question: Can I have a fountain? What is the script policy there?
Answer - Yes, you can have a fountain. Delete the scripts in the scripted objects unless absolutely necessary. Let's keep LAG to a MINIMUM from our end. The moving trees and grass don't need the script, please delete them. Any rotating objects, texture changing, resizing objects, etc., delete the scripts after you have placed them. No floating text.
Question: Can I get the largest plot?
Answer - No, there is no largest or smallest plots. All plots are of equal sizes. The footprints have rolled out. You will find a copy in the group notices of "~SL DECORATORS EXPO~". Alternatively, ask GiaBlossom, she will send you again.
Question: The room is as big as a house! I can fit my whole house in it. Can you allot more prims?
Answer - I understand, the room can look big for you. Please understand each room connects the other So a person can travel from room to room. For this, the onlooker needs leg space to move about. That is why a 16m x 16m space is given with that thought in mind. Sorry, 100 prims are allotted per room, no more. The prims are calculated so that everything fits in One 30K Prim Full Region.
Question: Can I place my fence in the gardens?
Answer - The fence that divides your gardens with the neighbors, is going to be rezzed by GiaBlossom Resident and locked. You can add more fence inside your assigned plot. That is up to you. The fence height will be 1.5m. If I go to your garden I can overlook the next one too. We can talk with each other over the fence.

Answer - Yes, but please make it fun and lighthearted. "Not a Bloody Display." This contest is for a cause. Please be mindful of the people who are survivors, caregivers, have lost someone in the battle. We do not want to hurt anyone's feelings. Keep the builds as if a child in RL can see and enjoy.
